You all have seen the shocking videos of Liberal Julia Letlow pledging allegiance to the left.

And you may be thinking to yourself that this is the first real bad news Letlow has faced during this race. And you’d be wrong.

The reality is that, for weeks we have been tracking a clear downward spiral for the Letlow campaign.

Letlow’s launch was her high point: When Letlow launched, she had some initial funding. So her PAC ran negative ads about Senator Cassidy from Feb 28 - March 13.

Then, a lower point: Then, the Letlow campaign ran out of money so her outside groups switched to pro-Letlow advertising to prop her up from March 20 - April 3. A key data point here: the Letlow campaign came down off broadcast. Broadcast is the last place a campaign wants to pull its ads from because candidates get much better rates than outside groups, so this proves that Letlow is low on resources.

Then, a lower point: Now, as many of you have seen over the weekend, Team Letlow hit the panic button and her PAC began attacking John Fleming. We all know that wouldn’t be happening if life was rosy in Liberal Letlow Land. In fact, the only pro-Letlow TV spending this week is a measly $50k cable buy by her campaign.

Now, her lowest point. Meanwhile, head to head, Team Letlow (her campaign plus her PAC) is still being vastly outspent by Team Cassidy (our campaign plus our PAC), and none of the advertising is going towards attacking Senator Cassidy. In fact, total Team Cassidy spending is $866k from 4/4 to 4/10. Total Team Letlow spending is $350k over the same stretch: a measly ~$50k in pro-Letlow TV from her campaign and ~$300k in anti-Fleming TV from her outside groups.

Here’s the bottom line: The now-infamous videos were not a one-off problem for Progressive Leader Letlow. The videos were actually just the latest low point in a very bad month. And we anticipate this month will get much worse for Liberal Julia Letlow. In fact, an outside group just went up with a new TV ad featuring Letlow’s self-destructive videos.
