Baton Rouge, LA - In the lead up to the May 16, 2026 Louisiana Primary, Team Cassidy is dedicating significant resources to educate voters on the state's new closed primary system. Team Cassidy has launched a new webpage to educate Louisiana, helping ensure voters understand the new rules and the steps they need to take before Election Day.
As part of this voter education initiative, Team Cassidy has released a voter information video explaining the new system and important dates to know. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), has been speaking directly to voters including a recent appearance on KTBS, to help clarify the changes and encourage Louisianans to prepare early.
Under Louisiana's new closed primary system for federal races:
Republicans vote in the Republican primary.
Democrats vote in the Democrat primary.
Voters registered as No Party will choose which party's ballot they want when they vote.
NOTE FOR NO PARTY: The ballot selection carries forward if the race advances to a runoff.
Team Cassidy's voter education campaign is focused on making sure voters are informaed well ahead of ELection Day so no one is caught off guard at the polls.
