LETLOW CAMPAIGN RESPONDS: DEI PROMOTION “STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE” FOR LIBERAL LETLOW, “JUST DOING HER JOB”

Letlow, lying: “That is absolutely false, that I would be a proponent of DEI. Do I know it exists on the university campuses? Absolutely, I’m going to do everything I can to fight it.”

Also Letlow: “One of the first things I would do, I believe we need a division on this campus, a division of diversity, equity, and inclusion”

Letlow: “I am a strong and progressive leader”

Baton Rouge, LA — Julia Letlow is lying to Louisiana. She’s billing herself as a conservative (despite her liberal record). 

And now Fox News has exposed a bombshell series of videos featuring Letlow angling for a liberal elite academic job by referring to herself as a “strong and progressive leader” and pushing explicitly for “diversity equity and inclusion”-based hiring practices right before she went to Congress. 

In fact, Letlow said one of the first things she would do as President of ULM would be to create “a division of diversity, equity and inclusion with leadership that goes all the way to the top with a full staff because [ULM’s] issues are so great… because they are shameful, truly.” 

From Fox: “In a 2020 video from Letlow's hiring process, when interviewing to be the president of the University of Louisiana—Monroe, Letlow called the school’s record on faculty gender diversity "shameful," praised DEI efforts around the country, said she wanted to open the school's first DEI division and suggested that, if hired, she would want "a person around the table that is cognizant and fighting for diversity, equity and inclusion before any decision is made for the university."

These videos are sure to shock conservative Louisiana voters who are clearly being sold a bill of goods.

Letlow has falsely claimed she opposes DEI many times, including:

• “That is absolutely false, that I would be a proponent of DEI. Do I know it exists on the university campuses? Absolutely, I’m going to do everything I can to fight it.” 

• "She will continue to champion the conservative causes that have earned her the endorsement and trust of President Trump – including reining in DEI initiatives.” Daily Caller

• "I saw it firsthand when I worked at the university. DEI was presented to us as something that would help students achieve the American Dream. And when I quickly witnessed that it was hijacked by the radical Left and turned into indoctrination and actually holding people down, I spent the last five years of Congress fighting against it." Louisiana First (2:32)

The Fox story follows another bombshell Daily Caller story about other instances where Letlow supported DEI as a university employee.

According to the Caller, Letlow:

• Helped initiate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) workshops

• Pushed for employee sensitivity trainings and incorporating DEI in classrooms

• Promoted safe spaces on ULM’s campus

• Associated with an anti-racist organization, and 

• Signed a statement “condemning racism and embracing diversity”

That’s not all. While in Congress, Letlow advocated for affirmative action initiatives and used millions in taxpayer dollars to fund Biden-era DEI government programs.
