Baton Rouge, LA — From day one, Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has focused on one goal: making health care more affordable for Louisiana families. Drawing on his experience as a doctor, Senator Cassidy has taken on Washington to lower costs, expand access, and ensure patients are in control of their health.

“Right now, families are being squeezed by high health care costs,” said Dr. Cassidy. “They shouldn’t have to choose between seeing a doctor and buying groceries. My focus is lowering costs and making health care affordable again for my state and country.”

For over 25 years, Dr. Cassidy treated uninsured and underinsured patients in Louisiana’s charity hospital system. He saw firsthand how high costs and red tape hurt working families. That experience drives his work in the Senate today.

As the first physician to chair the Senate HELP Committee, Senator Cassidy has led efforts to make health care more affordable and deliver a patient-first system. His current work aligns with President Trump’s vision to put power back in the hands of patients, not insurance companies, so families can make the best decisions for their care.
