Baton Rouge - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement following Congresswoman Julia Letlow's announcement that she is entering Louisiana's 2026 U.S. Senate race:
"Congresswomen Letlow called me this morning to say she was running. She said she respected me and that I had done a good job. I will continue to do a good job when I win re-election. I am a conservative who wakes up every morning thinking about how to make Louisiana and the United States a better place to live."
Senator Cassidy has a proven record of fighting for Louisiana and conservative values. From working with President Trump to deliver the Working Families Tax Cuts and leading the historic HALT Fentanyl Act to crack down on deadly drugs, to protecting the unborn and standing up to the radical trans agenda, Senator Cassidy delivers.
"Senator Cassidy is the only candidate for the U.S. Senate with a proven conservative track record of delivering for Louisiana. Louisianans know they can count on Cassidy, and he has the support, resources, and momentum to prove it," said Campaign Manager Katie Larkin.
Senator Cassidy enters the next phase of the race with strong momentum, broad support across Louisiana, and the resources to win a competitive statewide election. Senator Cassidy's campaign has $11 million dollars cash on hand and public reports indicate that pro-Cassidy forces will be able to deploy a combined $26 million in the coming months. The single largest spend supporting a Louisiana party primary candidate EVER.
Background:
Last week, Senator Cassidy was joined by Leader Thune in Baton Rouge for a high-dollar fundraising event that raised $650,000+ in a single night.
Senator Cassidy is endorsed by the NRSC and Leader John Thune.
