Baton Rouge, LA — Well, this is an interesting series of total coincidences that merits absolutely no follow-up or scrutiny. You may have seen some reporting about the players involved here before: Firm Tied to Kristi Noem Secretly Got Money From $220 Million DHS Ad Contracts

From POLITICO:

“DHS CONTRACTOR JUMPS INTO LOUISIANA PRIMARY: A controversial contractor is working for multiple outside spending groups in Louisiana’s Senate race, our colleague Jessica Piper writes in. The Louisiana-based firm People Who Think received a seven-figure commission for its work on the Department of Homeland Security’s ad campaign that preceded former Secretary Kristi Noem’s ouster. Now, it’s linked to two outside groups involved in the contentious Senate primary, where GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy faces challenges from Rep. Julia Letlow and state Treasurer John Fleming.

A POLITICO review of federal filings found People Who Think has been the media buyer for a pro-Letlow super PAC called Accountability Project, as well as a group called MAGA Energy, which went up with an ad and website in recent weeks going after Fleming on the issue of carbon capture. Neither group has much history: Accountability Project was founded in February and has received funds from another PAC, Hope In Action, while MAGA Energy Project popped up a few months ago, with its sources of funding unclear.

— It’s not unprecedented for People Who Think to pick up political clients: The firm has worked as a media buyer for campaigns before, as well as for state government. But it is an interesting commonality between two groups that have run ads that would seem to benefit Letlow.

— Accountability Project and MAGA Energy Project did not respond to questions about sources of funding or whether the two were connected. Both groups have still been outspent by the pro-Cassidy super PAC Louisiana Freedom Fund, which has now surpassed $10 million in spending.”
