Baton Rouge, LA - In case you missed it, NOLA highlighted how Liberal Julia Letlow continues to hide from Senator Cassidy and refuses to agree to a televised debate in Louisiana’s U.S. Senate race. It seems she is not only taking the reins from Nancy Pelosi, but also taking a page from her mentor, Basement Joe Biden, on how to duck and hide from voters and reporters. Liberal Letlow’s refusal to debate is denying voters the opportunity to hear directly from all candidates on the issues facing the state.

“Tuesday, his campaign noted, marked the 11th day since Cassidy called for the three TV debates. It then referred to news accounts that Letlow failed to follow congressional rules when she was more than a year late in reporting 210 individual stock trades. Letlow blamed her financial advisors for the late disclosures.

"Senator Cassidy is ready for a televised debate anytime – the only question is whether Letlow will finally show up for the pot of gold,” Cassidy’s campaign said in the statement. “Based on her stock trading violations, we do know she has an eye for treasure.””

. . .

“Louisiana Public Broadcasting and Leaders for a Better Louisiana scheduled a TV debate on April 16 at LPB’s studios in Baton Rouge. But Letlow said she couldn’t appear because the House was scheduled to be in session that day.

Barry Erwin, chief policy officer for a Better Louisiana, said his group responded by telling Letlow’s office on March 5 that they would reschedule the debate — but haven’t heard back from Letlow.

KTBS-TV in Shreveport, which has offered to host a debate for Nexstar stations in Louisiana, also hasn’t gotten a response from Letlow, said anchor Jeff Beimfohr.”

“Asked about Letlow’s refusal to agree to a TV debate with him, Cassidy said, “In this election, I think a debate is important. The people of Louisiana want to know who has delivered for the people of Louisiana. I have delivered.”

He continued: “I have delivered over $16 billion to the state overall, including $13 billion from the bipartisan infrastructure bill. I have passed dozens of pieces of legislation. Congresswoman Letlow has no record like that.””

. . .

“Besides eschewing a TV debate, Letlow has also been limiting interviews with Louisiana-based media since she qualified for the Senate race in mid-February.

Her campaign did not make her available for this article.

A spokesperson said she has conducted six TV or radio interviews since the qualifying period five weeks ago.

In contrast, Cassidy briefs reporters weekly on his latest activities and then takes questions. He also has done other interviews with Louisiana-based reporters in Washington and in Louisiana.”

BOTTOM LINE: From Pelosi-style politics to Basement Joe Biden-style dodging, Julia Letlow is showing Louisiana voters exactly who she is. Read more from NOLA.
