Hammond, LA — U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) visited Jeanie’s Restaurant in Hammond today to celebrate the passage of President Donald Trump’s legislation eliminating federal taxes on tips, a measure that directly benefits Louisiana’s service workers and small businesses.

Cassidy met with employees, local leaders, and community members to discuss how the new law ensures waiters, waitresses, bartenders, and other tipped workers keep more of what they earn. Many Louisiana families rely on tips to make ends meet, and eliminating federal taxes on those wages means more take-home pay for workers across the state.

“Louisiana waiters, waitresses, beauticians, and others depend on tips to support their families. Now they keep more of what they earn instead of sending it to Washington. That's a huge win for working families,” said Senator Cassidy.
