Baton Rouge, LA - On National Girls and Women in Sports Day, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), highlighted his leadership in confronting federal and state actions that threaten fairness, safety, and opportunity for women and girls in athletics.

As Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Dr. Cassidy has taken direct action to hold the Biden administration and state governments accountable for woke policies that weaken Title IX and allow biological males to compete in women's sports.

"Common sense and science tells us there are two sexes - males and female. There isn't a third option," said Dr. Cassidy. "As Chair of the Senate HELP Committee, I've fought back against woke gender ideology and will continue to advocate for common sense policies that protect female athletes on and off the field."

Dr. Cassidy has used his leadership role on the Senate HELP Committee to defend Title IX and protect female sports by:

  • Initiating an investigation into 18 states and Washington, D.C. for potential violations of President Trump's executive order designed to keep biological males out of women's sports, seeking information on state compliance and enforcement practices.

  • Leading a Title IX investigation into the consequences of Biden-era policies, documenting how allowing biological males to compete in women's athletics undermines fairness, threatens safety, and displaces female athletes from podiums, scholarships, and roster spots.

  • Speaking out against the Olympic Committee and Biden-Harris Title IX rule for undermining women's sports and privacy by allowing biological males to compete in women's athletics and access female spaces.

  • Exposing the Biden administration's lack of transparency in drafting its Title IX rule, criticizing the closed-door process that ignored parents, athletes, and coaches while fast-tracking radical changes to longstanding protections.

  • Publicly rebuking the Biden Administration's Title IX rule for dismantling the law's original purpose and getting ride of equal athletic opportunities for women and girls nationwide.
