Baton Rouge, LA - With Louisiana's May 16 primary election approaching, Team Cassidy is encouraging voters across the state to take a moment now to check their voter registration status and make sure they are ready to vote.
"Voting is a civic duty, and voters deserve clear information about how to participate," said Dr. Cassidy. "Louisiana's Senate race is no longer a jungle primary. It is now a closed party primary. I encourage every Louisianan to check their voter registration now and be ready to make their voice heard on May 16th."
Louisiana voters can register or update their voter information through several convenient options. The deadline to register to vote in person in April 15, and the online voter registration deadline is April 25.
What Voters Need to Know
Under Louisiana’s new closed primary system for federal races:
Republicans vote in the Republican primary.
Democrats vote in the Democrat primary.
Voters registered as No Party will choose which party’s ballot they want when they vote.
NOTE FOR NO PARTY: The ballot selection carries forward if the race advances to a runoff.
Team Cassidy’s voter education campaign is focused on making sure voters are informed well ahead of Election Day so no one is caught off guard at the polls.
