Baton Rouge, LA — Oof. That escalated quickly.
Liberal Julia Letlow has had a no good, very bad week after her troubling DEI record was first reported by Fox News and continues to gain both national and local attention. Back home in Louisiana, voters are asking serious questions she still refuses to answer.
From national outlets to local conversations across Louisiana, Liberal Letlow’s past support for DEI policies is under growing scrutiny. And instead of owning her record, Letlow is doubling down on denials that simply don’t match the facts.
The problem for Liberal Letlow isn’t just her DEI record. It’s that she thought she could LIE to Louisiana voters and get away with it. Now, a pattern is emerging. Can Louisianans really trust that Liberal Letlow will put their interests ahead of her own?
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:
Fox News: In a 2020 video from Letlow's hiring process, when interviewing to be the president of the University of Louisiana Monroe, Letlow called the school’s record on faculty gender diversity "shameful," praised DEI efforts around the country, said she wanted to open the school's first DEI division and suggested that, if hired, she would want "a person around the table that is cognizant and fighting for diversity, equity and inclusion before any decision is made for the university."
Bruce Bradley on X: If Letlow's excuse is that she didn't mean it, she was just lying to get a job, she proves she is dishonest, has no integrity, and would say anything to get what she wants.
New York Times: In January, The Daily Caller, a conservative news site, reported that Letlow, who was not ultimately selected to be president of the university, had helped with D.E.I. workshops while working at the school.
Eric Michael Garcia on X: Julia Letlow seen on video talking about creating a DEI division. Those words are the death knell on the right.
Daily Caller: A spring 2011 Health Communication course at ULM, instructed by Letlow (then Barnhill), required a textbook that praises Hillary Clinton and bashes the supposed privilege of “married heterosexuality.”
Louisiana Gurl on X: You lost me with your U of Monroe interview. It appears you were pandering to get a job. So, what is real?
Daily Mail: Trump-backed Senate candidate is secret super fan of DEI policies and gushed about them at peak of woke fever
Independent Journalism Review: The DCNF previously exposed Letlow for helping to initiate DEI workshops, associating with an anti-racist organization and signing a statement “condemning racism and embracing diversity” during her time at ULM.
LACAG on Facebook: In a 2020 interview when she wanted to become ULM president, Letlow called ULM’s’ NON DEI policy “shameful.” It is, of course, only coincidental that Letlow’s “quick” conversion to an anti DEI position was right when she went to Congress in 2021. What is really “shameful” is that she thinks Louisiana voters won’t see through this.
Politico: Knives Out. SHE SAID WHAT? Reporting from Fox News that Trump’s favored Senate candidate in Louisiana championed DEI in a university hiring process is raising eyebrows in Washington and among Trump allies.
Monroe Today: Letlow's past comments supporting DEI could undermine her current anti-DEI messaging and raise questions about her political convictions among conservative voters.
The Hayride: On The Julia Letlow Pro-DEI Video That Is Now Roiling The LASEN Race…
Off The Press on X: Unearthed video shows Rep. Julia Letlow (R-LA) pushing to create a DEI office at the University of Louisiana Monroe while interviewing to be the university's president.
