Baton Rouge, LA - Ahead of Louisiana's upcoming party, Team Bill Cassidy is launching a new Working & Winning Wednesday (WWW) segment highlighting U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA)'s record of delivering results. First up: Senator Cassidy's ongoing working to secure America's borders, stop the flow of illegal drugs and violent criminals, and keep Louisiana families safe.
"Keeping Louisiana families safe is one of my most important responsibilities," said Dr. Cassidy. "I've worked to strengthen border security, support law enforcement, and push policies that stop illegal criminals and deadly drugs from entering our country. There's more work to do. I will always fight for policies that put Louisiana families first."
In the U.S. Senate, Dr. Cassidy has a strong record of protecting our communities, strengthening our borders,, capturing dangerous illegal criminals, and stopping drugs from pouring into our state. See for yourself:
Senator Cassidy's HALT Fentanyl Act was signed into law last year by President Trump. This legislation provides necessary resources to local law enforcement to help top the distribution of this life-threatening substance.
Senator Cassidy voted to pass the Laken Riley Act, legislation he cosponsored that strengthens border security by requiring the arrest and detention of illegal immigrants who commit crimes until they are removed from the country.
Senator Cassidy is leading efforts through the Protect Medicaid Act to ensure federal taxpayer dollars are not used to provide Medicaid benefits to noncitizens. The bill bars liberal states from using federal funding to provide Medicaid benefits to illegal immigrants Senator Cassidy supported Sarah's Law, honoring the memory of Sarah Root by requiring U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal immigrants who are criminally charged with killing or serious injuring another person.
Senator Cassidy led efforts to target human and drug trafficking at the border by advancing innovative technology to strengthen enforcement and improve security.
Last week Senator Cassidy's second TV ad launched statewide; "Night Alley," highlights the work Senator Cassidy has done to strengthen America's borders, deport illegal criminals, and keep Louisiana communities safe. As Louisiana's senior senator, Cassidy continues to prioritize border security and public safety, emphasizing enforcement and policies that protect families across the state.
