Baton Rouge, LA - In case you missed it, conservative State Senator and Chair of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus, Beth Mizell showed her support for U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) in a recent video, pointing to his fierce support of women and rapid, decisive action when Louisiana conservatives needed support to pass the Fairness in Women's Sports law.

During a critical moment when the Fairness in Women's Sports bill faced a Democrat governor's veto and an uncertain path forward, Cassidy provided instrumental support that helped conservatives rebuild momentum and deliver support for female athletes across the state. The law's passage made Louisiana one of the first states in the nation to protect fairness and opportunity for female athletes.

Mizell's continued support reflects Senator Cassidy's record of delivering results for Louisiana conservatives as the 2026 Senate race moves forward.

TRANSCRIPT:

Hi, I want to ask you for a minute of your time to share a memory.

A few years ago, we were in quite a fight for the Fairness in Women's Sports bill. My bill has been vetoed by the governor. This was a different governor and a different time, but quite a fight by the conservatives in the Louisiana legislature. The bill had been vetoed by the governor.

We'd brought it back and had hoped to get a passage. We were looking for support that wasn't very clear at the time. I reached out to Senator Cassidy, asked for his support, help us cross the finish line with our Fairness in Women's Sport bill.

Within 30 minutes, I had a text and a tweet from Senator Cassidy in full support of the bill that allowed for fairness in athletics for women across the state of Louisiana.

We were one of the first states that openly got that done. I want to thank Senator Cassidy for taking the stand and doing the right thing.

And I thought we all needed to know he came through. Thank you.

BACKGROUND:

Dr. Cassidy has been a leading voice to defend Title IX and protect female sports as Chairman of the Senate HELP Committee by:

  • Initiating an investigation into 18 states and Washington, D.C. for potential violations of President Trump's executive order designed to keep biological males out of women's sports, seeking information on state compliance and enforcement practices.

  • Leading a Title IX investigation into the consequences of Biden-era policies, documenting how allowing biological males to compete in women's athletics undermines fairness, threatens safety, and displaces female athletes from podiums, scholarships, and roster spots.

  • Speaking out against the Olympic Committee and Biden-Harris Title IX rule for undermining women's sports and privacy by allowing biological males to compete in women's athletics and access female spaces.

  • Exposing the Biden administration's lack of transparency in drafting its Title IX rule, criticizing the closed-door process that ignored parents, athletes, and coaches while fast-tracking radical changes to longstanding protections.

  • Publicly rebuking the Biden administration's Title IX rule for dismantling the law's original purposes and getting rid of equal athletic opportunities for women and girls nationwide.
