Leader Thune Praised Senator Cassidy's Conservative Leadership, Emphasized Strong GOP Support for Reelection Campaign

Baton Rouge, LA — U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), was joined by Leader John Thune at Phil’s Oyster Bar and Grill to highlight the Working Families Tax Cuts Act delivered under President Trump’s leadership to provide real relief for working families, seniors, and service industry workers across Louisiana. The trip came as Leader Thune emphasized support for Cassidy from all of GOP Senate leadership and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

The visit focused on President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, which lowers taxes for seniors, eliminates taxes on overtime pay and tips, and increases the child tax credit. Cassidy and Thune emphasized that this tax relief strengthens local businesses, especially restaurants, by increasing take home pay for workers and boosting economic activity in communities like Baton Rouge.

“President Trump and I passed the Tax Cut for Working Families Bill,” said Senator Cassidy. “It puts money in people’s pockets by “no tax on tips”, “no tax on overtime” and “no tax on social security”. These are huge wins for Louisiana families.” 

The visit underscores continued efforts by Cassidy and Senate leadership to advance President Trump’s pro worker, pro family policies that put America First and strengthen Louisiana’s economy.
