Baton Rouge, LA — Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has consistently led the fight against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies – backing up his position with clear action and results in Washington.

From day one, Senator Cassidy has opposed DEI mandates and worked to ensure taxpayer dollars are not used to fund divisive or politically driven programs. His record reflects a sustained commitment to accountability, transparency, and merit-based systems.

“DEI institutionalizes discrimination,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Discrimination in any form is wrong and institutionalized discrimination is really wrong. I’ve led the fight in Washington to put an end to it. The American people expect fairness, opportunity, and the most qualified individuals to succeed.”

Cassidy’s Record of Action Against DEI:

  • February 2025: Senator Cassidy co-sponsored the reintroduction of the Dismantle DEI Act.

  • February 2025: Wrote an op-ed on "the troubling influence of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) ideology in higher education" and pledged HELP Committee scrutiny of federal funding

  • June 2024: Introduced the Dismantle DEI Act with JD Vance and others to eliminate all DEI programs in the federal government and any organization that receives federal funding

  • August 2024: Urged Education Department OIG to investigate use of federal funds by universities for DEI

  • December 2025: Grilled the American Medical Association on its support for DEI mandates in healthcare

  • February 2026: Called for DEI programs to be removed from NIH
